Thomas of Woodstock cover illustration

May 2008

Thomas of Woodstock I created this cover illustration for a new edition of Thomas of Woodstock, a non-canonical play sometimes attributed to Shakespeare. I themed this image on two lines from the play: one from Woodstock himself - "When kingdoms change, the very heavens are troubled" - and one from his servingman, when Richard's queen dies: "The lights of heaven are shut in pitchy clouds/And flakes of fire run tilting through the sky/Like dim ostents to some great tragedy."

Edward II cover illustration

December 2007

Edward II This image was commissioned for the front cover of a script of Christopher Marlowe's Edward II. For this illustration I re-imagined the play in a modern setting, playing on the roughshod language of Marlowe and the petty, vicious character interactions. I conceptualised Edward and his court as teenaged, over-emotional scene queens squabbling for supremacy. This image depicts the young king, overwhelmed by his imminent sense of his own downfall. I used a combination of media to complete this image, starting from a hand-painted study and finishing the piece in digital media.

Edenbridge Galleries Christmas card

October 2007

Edenbridge Galleries Christmas Card Working with Online Galleries, I based this Christmas card design on the rebranded Edenbridge Galleries website, incorporating the new typographical logo and elements from the colour palette. The aim was to produce a festive greetings card with an up-market, professional look. The client specified that each of the dealers in the collective be named on the inner leaf of the card, and the design was refined and modified over numerous drafts during the consultation process.

The finished card design was composed of four panels, arranged for print over 2/3 of two A4 pages. The first panel was reversed vertically in the final proof.

K~nesis exhibition flyer

August 2007

K~nesis exhibition flyer I created this double-sided flyer to promote K~nesis, a joint exhibition held in August-September 2007. The exhibition showcased a collection of collaborative works created in a spontaneous, improvisational style. The artworks were experimental and organic, focussing on themes of growth and movement, the natural world and human form, inner and outer space. I used images from the exhibition to create two different graphics promoting the show.
